Never judge a book by its cover, or a restaurant attached to a mall. That's a saying, isn't it? Remind me to trademark that. When I walked into Del Frisco's I said my hellos to friends who managed to be on time, freaked out about finding a glass of wine, and then found a menu.
Wait. Cheesesteak Egg Rolls? OK, you have my attention. I just love egg rolls. Correction: I love egg roll wrappers. Is that wrong? I can basically eat anything in a fried egg roll wrapper. These Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are exactly what I love: crunchy, savory, cheesy wraps that I can get handsy with. Obviously, an app is just an excuse to have a mini meal while you wait for your big meal. So it's a good thing when you can grab something that gives you prime flavor without filling you up. This brings me to Next up are the Tuna Tacos. Tuna tartare, avocado and spicy citrus Mayo sing together in a crisp shell.
The Steakhouse Salad with prime steak, hickory-smoked bacon and deviled egg is topped with lemon horseradish dressing. Order it as an entree, or share it as an app. Either way, it's a good choice. Add some Pan Seared Scallops with goat cheese polenta for an amazing complimentary dish. I'd honestly eat either as entrees, but sharing is just the way to go. It means I get to try more food, which is basically my life's goal. Let's get to a dish that got me really excited. The Prime Beef Short Rib Stroganoff is hearty and comforting. I have a crush on pappardelle egg noodles. They're so thick and grab on to any sauce or gravy like a champ. Did you think I'd end this meal without a cocktail? Of course not! My fave of the night is The VIP. It's pineapple soaked in clementine vodka and hand-pressed TWICE. The infused juice is what makes up this cocktail, which makes for a sweetly potent martini.
Before I go, let me show you a dessert that looks like it's straight out of Game of Thrones. Del Frisco's Coconut Cream Pie is heavenly, and weighed down by countless curls of white chocolate shavings and a dusting of powdered sugar.
I think what stands out most about Del Frisco's is that the extensive menu has dishes you'd find at an upscale restaurant. In other words, I sat there not feeling like I was having a less-than experience. There's a good variety, and every dish I tried made an impression. I love when I can add a restaurant to my list of places I'd visit again, because I'm excited about the menu! The only thing that I need now is to get my taste buds on the rest of what Del Frisco's has to offer.
