Crockpot Sesame Soy Chicken | Recipe

June 19, 2018

Give me a meal that I can toss into a crockpot any day of the week!  There’s nothing better than throwing everything into a “bowl” and coming home to a cooked meal.  It’s like an adult Christmas gift.  The only thing better is when I look into the hamper and find it empty.  Believe it or not, I don’t do laundry.  My husband is like the Stain-Whisperer.  You have to know your strengths, and laundry just isn’t one of mine.  On the other hand, Vinnie can work some magic in the laundry room.   It was one of those happy surprises that I learned after marriage, and it solidified that I made the right choice.  But, as per usual, I digress.

With kids of all ages in the house (toddler to teen), the one thing that everyone can agree on is chicken.  As long as it doesn’t have mushrooms, or peppers, or salsa – but you get the idea.  I like to keep it simple with sides, because why would I make a crockpot entrée only to get all Iron Chef with sides?  Exactly.  Doesn’t make much sense.  Biscuits, mashed potatoes and some kind of vegetable does the job.

Once you serve your family this impressive spread, you can look  around proudly as they dig in.  Smile smugly as they appreciate all of your hard work and comment on how they just don’t know how you do it.  Yes, you are amazing.  Why, sure, you will take the last biscuit.  Of course, you would love a hug!  Hey, you can dream.  Regardless, one thing is for certain: you whipped together one heck of a meal.

First thing’s first.

Crockpot Sesame Soy Chicken

Serves: 6-8

8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

6 garlic cloves, halved

½ c. honey

¾ c. ketchup

¾ c. soy sauce

1 tsp. dried oregano

3 tablespoons fresh parsley

1 TB toasted sesame seeds

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, oregano and parsley together.

  2. Place chicken at the bottom of your crockpot.

  3. Pour the sauce over chicken.

  4. Cover and cook for 5 hours on LOW, or 4 hours on HIGH.  Every crockpot is different, so use the times that work best for yours.

  5. Place chicken on serving plate and top with sauce from crockpot.

  6. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and serve.

Enjoy!
